The Digital Bolex Fearless Filmmaking Competition - Digital Bolex invited ten filmmakers, including Slamdance alumni, to use their market-storming digital cinema camera to create short films about rebels and fearless auteurs. These films were screened at the 2015 Slamdance Film Festival and were judged by an esteemed panel of Slamdance Alumni. Digital distribution of these films is currently in the works as of March 2015.
SLAMDANCE ON THE ROAD 2014presented by CreativeFuture
As part of our year-round program, On The Road brings popular Slamdance films to audiences that otherwise would not have the opportunity to see them. The traveling showcase also supports local filmmaking and the development of independent film. There are multiple opportunities to partner with the On The Road program including series presentation as well as theatrical and on-site advertising. The 2014 Slamdance On The Road is traveling to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Detroit, Vancouver BC and many others. See the full schedule here.
The MixBit Trailer Competition - MixBit, the app from YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, looked to Slamdance to share their innovative video creation and mash-up platform with independent filmmakers. Taking an exciting leap, 2014 Slamdance filmmakers uploaded their trailers to the MixBit platform where they were shared and remixed by MixBit users.
The Adobe Re-Cut Competition - We put a trial of Adobe's new software into the hands of emerging editing talent and asked them to re-edit an original scene created by Slamdance Alum and Palm d'Or winner David Greenspan. The winner won a trip to Slamdance where they screened their winning cut.
During Panasonic's launch of their AF100 Camera Slamdance teamed up with them for the Road to Park City Competition - At the 2011 and 2012 festivals, six Slamdance filmmaking teams took the new camera out on Main Street to create short films based on a theme of their journey to Park City. The filmmakers got the chance to preview Panasonic's latest camera and the winning team took it home. View the winning short film.
2010 & 2011 Filmmaker Summit - For two years Slamdance hosted the Filmmaker Summit, an all day event focused on emerging and innovative filmmaking trends. Notable guests and speakers of the Summit are foremost thinkers in their area of expertise. The Summit proved to be a great vehicle for sponsors to discuss and display new products and ideas.
